Pumpkin Peanut Butter Biscuits

Imesha Wells chewy dog treats

Yes. Dog treats. I'm a chef creating dog treats. What dog doesn't love treats? It's equivalent to receiving that one mystery gift that you're okay with. LOL. No but, dog treats are amazing, and I'm so happy to have created a dog treat that my two pups love.

1. The Base

Here are our star players: eggs, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and honey. Basic set up. I found that adding honey to my batter was way better than applying it to baked cookies, risking your furnitures health by putting it in danger of sticky treats carried by the mouths of our fur babies. That was probably a run on sentence but whatever, add the honey to your wet mixture and thank me later.

2. Blend it in!

After blending your wet ingredients, little by little you'll add your flour until you form your desired texture of dough. I blended my wet ingredients at least 4-5 mins. The batter will definitely let you know when it's ready to meet the flour. Once I reached my desired dough texture, I simply turned off the mixer, and headed to the Knead Factory.

3. Knead Factory

Once I got my dough ready to be rolled, tucked, pull, slapped, etc. I added some wheat flour to prevent stickiness. Be careful not to add too much flour because the dough will become dry and stiff, and no dog or human deserves a stiffed baked treat. Tasteless.  After fifteen mins of kneading my dough I was ready for my notorious rolling pin, and the dog treat cutters. At this point Wally is watching me like a hawk, hoping something will drop on the floor so he can devour it like a Hungry Hungry Hippo. I loved that game.

4. Roll it! Roll it! Cut it! Cut it!

I didn't make these treats super thin. I wanted my fur babies to enjoy the fullness of something so delicate, and filled with love. Plus, you know how horrible it is cooking a super thick cookie or biscuit, the pain. I enjoyed the fresh smell of the pumpkin flowed by a hint of peanut butter that hugged me oh so tight. I was definitely at home.

5. Bake! Bake! Bake! Bake!

While my most prized possessions were baking at 350 degrees, I cleaned my area and gave my babies some dough and they totally denied its existence. Little did they know that that same dough was about to reunite them with Charlie from All Dogs Go to Heaven. Their tastebuds are going to explode and I'm so excited to witness it.

6. We made it!!!! Celebrate!!

After twenty-three minutes of baking, these babies turned out great. I let them cool for ten minutes before being judge by the worlds' most honest taste testers; Annabelle, and Wally. Annabelle chose the bowtie, and Wally chose the bone. They stood in complete stillness, looked at each other with satisfaction and ran off to their beds to enjoy their treats. Once they were finished, they raced to the kitchen, and ordered another round of Pumpkin Peanut Butter Biscuits.

Here's the recipe for you to enjoy creating for your fur babies, or friends of fur babies. Get into it!!

Recipe:

1 c organic pumpkin puree

2/3 c wheat flower (may need more)

2 eggs

1/2 c organic peanut butter

2 tbsp honey

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

To a bowl: add all ingredients except for the flour. I blend on Medium High for at least a minute then I slow it down to make sure everything is properly mixed. Please remember to taste your batter. If it doesn't taste good to you, it's not going to taste good to your dog.

Slowly add flour to the batter until it forms a dough. Not too dry, not too stiff, and not too loose. Once you've finished adding flour, remove dough ball from the bowl to a floured surface.

Begin to knead dough for at least twelve minutes. After kneading dough, roll dough, and cut with cutters. Bake for 20-23 minutes. Allow them to cool completely, and serve to your fur babies.
